Question 1

What is Delaware SHINES?

Accepted Answer

Delaware SHINES is Delaware’s first statewide solar and battery storage program, announced by Governor Matt Meyer and DNREC on September 1, 2026. It is designed to help households, small businesses, and nonprofits reduce power bills by coordinating solar and battery storage loans, grants, and rebates.

Question 2

Who qualifies for Delaware SHINES?

Accepted Answer

Eligibility requirements are set by the program administrator and depend on factors like qualifying equipment, system design, and program rules. Current RS reviews the current requirements with you during your battery assessment and confirms whether your project fits before you commit to anything.

Question 3

How much is the Delaware SHINES incentive?

Accepted Answer

Incentive amounts depend on eligibility requirements, system size, qualifying equipment, and available funding. Because program details are administered by the state and its partners, Current RS reviews the latest incentive figures with you during your assessment rather than quoting a fixed number here.

Question 4

Can existing solar customers participate in Delaware SHINES?

Accepted Answer

In many cases, yes. Homeowners with existing solar systems may be able to add battery storage. Current RS evaluates your existing inverter equipment, electrical service, solar system design, and battery compatibility to determine whether your system can be upgraded.

Question 5

What batteries qualify for Delaware SHINES?

Accepted Answer

Qualifying equipment is determined by program rules. Common residential battery platforms include Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ Battery, SolarEdge Home Battery, FranklinWH, and other qualifying storage solutions. Current RS confirms which options qualify for your home during your assessment.

Question 6

How long does a battery storage installation take?

Accepted Answer

Timelines depend on your system design, permitting, utility coordination, and equipment availability. Once your system is designed and approved, the physical installation itself is typically completed in a few days. Current RS provides a project timeline with your proposal.

Question 7

Does Current RS install Tesla Powerwall?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Current RS installs Tesla Powerwall along with other qualifying battery storage platforms. The right choice depends on your existing solar equipment, electrical system, and energy goals.

Question 8

Does Current RS install SolarEdge batteries?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Current RS installs SolarEdge Home Battery systems, which are designed to work with SolarEdge solar systems. If you already have a SolarEdge inverter, a SolarEdge battery is often a natural upgrade path.

Question 9

Who installs Delaware SHINES battery storage in Delaware?

Accepted Answer

Current RS is a local solar and energy storage contractor that installs battery storage throughout Delaware, including New Castle, Kent, and Sussex counties — from Wilmington, Newark, and Middletown to Dover and the Delaware beaches. Current RS handles the evaluation, system design, permitting, utility coordination, and installation.
