FORTRESS America. Your Home’s Power Plan.

If the grid went down, what would stay on?

The Pentagon's FORTRESS America initiative calls for military installations to build independent power capabilities. The same question applies at home: your refrigerator, your well or sump pump, your internet — what would keep running?

Current RS plans solar, battery storage and backup controls around the equipment your household actually depends on.

Let Current RS go get it for your home. We review your property, your electric utility, any existing solar, and the loads you want protected — then put the numbers in writing. No obligation. The combined maximum is for qualifying Delaware Delmarva Power solar-plus-storage projects; actual awards vary and require approval and available funding.

SolarYour HomeBatteryUtility Grid

Grid down, battery carrying the protected circuits. Actual backup capability depends on system design, equipment and the loads you choose to keep powered.

A short outage is an inconvenience.A longer one changes the questions.

Energy independence starts by deciding what matters most, then designing around it. Most households name the same three areas first.

Food and water

The refrigerator, a freezer, and the well or sump pump that keeps water moving and the basement dry.

Communications

Internet, phones and the router — the equipment that keeps the household reachable and working.

Comfort and safety

Heating equipment, medical devices, lighting and whatever else the household cannot be without.

Write those three things down. They are the starting point of your assessment — and of a system sized for your home rather than a generic package.

In the news

What FORTRESS America is

In late September 2026, the Pentagon publicly announced the FORTRESS America initiative, which calls for U.S. military installations to develop independent power capabilities rather than depending entirely on the commercial grid.

The reporting focuses on installations. The underlying question is a household question too: if utility power stopped, what would keep running, and for how long?

What it means for your home

  • Name the loads that matter: refrigeration, water, communications, heat.
  • Compare solar and battery options for those loads, not for the whole panel.
  • Model backup duration under stated conditions instead of promising a number.
  • Put the equipment, scope and price in writing before you decide.

They're planning 90 days.

We're planning much, much longer.

Reporting on FORTRESS America describes a 90-day operational-independence goal for military installations. Your household's plan should reach well past that — across years of outages, rate changes and equipment decisions. That is the horizon we design for.

A home power plan has three parts

Solar alone generates. A battery alone stores. The controls decide what actually stays on. Current RS plans all three together, starting from your priorities.

01

Generate

Solar panels produce power at your home during daylight, reducing what you draw from the utility.

02

Store

A battery holds available energy for later use, including evening hours and qualifying outage conditions.

03

Control

Backup controls decide which circuits stay powered and how stored energy is rationed across them.

How long will it last? It depends — and we'll show you the math.

Backup duration depends on battery capacity, the loads you protect, weather, and how the system is designed. Your assessment estimates duration for your specific priorities under stated conditions instead of quoting a blanket number.

Your home has solar.Does it have backup power?

Having solar panels does not automatically mean your home stays powered during an outage. The answer depends on your inverter, storage, controls and how the system was designed.

If you are unsure what your system can do, let's check before you need it.

What the review covers

  • Your inverter and whether it can support battery backup at all.
  • Compatible storage options for the equipment you already own.
  • Which circuits could stay powered, and for how long under different conditions.
  • Whether a battery addition may qualify for Delaware solar-plus-storage incentives.

The financial side

Let Current RS help you access up to $16,000 through SHINES for your independence

Up to $10,000 may be available toward qualifying new solar and up to $6,000 toward qualifying battery storage — including homes that already have solar. We put the equipment, backup priorities, estimated performance, project price and applicable incentives in writing, side by side, and pursue the incentive for your project.

  • The combined $16,000 maximum applies to qualifying Delaware Delmarva Power solar-plus-storage projects. Actual awards vary.
  • Existing-solar battery grants require a qualifying GEP-approved solar installation with interconnection approval within the past 12 months, plus all other program requirements.
  • Funding, eligibility and program terms are set by the program, not by Current RS.

Submission does not guarantee program eligibility or funding approval. Ask about our rebate arrangement and payment terms during your assessment — approval conditions are explained in the written proposal.
